Famous chef Enrique Olvera isn’t new to NYC — he’s got high-end Mexican restaurant Cosme, all-day Mexican spot Atla, and taqueria Esse Taco. Now, he’s bringing his most famous restaurant from Mexico City, Pujol, into New York for a 12-night pop-up this late fall for its 25th anniversary. The NYC restaurant residency takes place in the Financial District District office building WSA on 161 Water Street at Fletcher Street in November. Last year, Pujol is the first restaurant in Mexico to land two Michelin stars.
Pujol’s New York stint is in celebration of the fine-dining restaurant’s 25th anniversary. Olvera opened Pujol in 2000, garnering accolades and becoming the dining destination of Mexico City for his approach of using deep-rooted Mexican food traditions and techniques for its high-end dishes. The eight-course NYC menu will feature its popular and famous dishes. This could mean potentially the famed mole madre, mole nuevo (where fresh mole is surrounded by very aged mole), smoked elotes served in a pumpkin, and lots of corn tortillas.
Pujol’s NYC pop-ups run from Tuesday, November 11, through Saturday, November 22, with seatings at 5 and 8 p.m. Reservations will be available on Resy starting on Wednesday, October 1. It’s $295 with $195 beverage pairings.
