DeSoto at Mesquite

7 p.m. Friday at Memorial Stadium

DeSoto has had one of the most unusual starts to the season in the Dallas area. It opened with a loss of more than 40 points to an out-of-state opponent, then blew a 14-point lead in a loss to North Crowley. The Eagles followed that with a 70-point win over Corpus Christi Miller. That leaves three different versions of DeSoto, and Friday will show which one takes the field. Mesquite, under first-year head coach Rafael Thomas, has a 1-2 record. While DeSoto is coming off a big win, the Skeeters are trying to rebound from a 49-14 loss to North Forney in their district opener.

Harrod’s pick: DeSoto 52, Mesquite 14
