SAN ANTONIO – A 12-acre grass fire broke out near a major solar farm as a result of two employees cutting grass.

According to the San Antonio Fire Department, the fire broke out around noon on Tuesday at the OCI Solar Powr Alamo 2 Solar Farm near the corner of Binz Engleman and Woodlake Parkway.

Officials say that the fire, stemming from the employees of the plant cutting grass, burned a total of 12 acres of land.

Thankfully, nobody was injured, and no property was damaged as a result. Bexar County ESDs 9, 11, and 12 responded to the scene of the brushfire.

According to OCI Enterprises, which owns the solar farm, 20 acres were burned by the fire. As an emergency precaution, OCI Energy powered down power from the solar farm and notified CPS Energy.

Once the site is declared safe by fire officials, OCI Energy will re-energize the solar farm.
