11th Annual Taste of Rancho Santa Fe

The Rancho Santa Fe Rotary Club will hold the 11th Annual Taste of Rancho Santa Fe event on Sunday, Oct. 5, from 4 p.m.-7 p.m. at The Inn at Rancho Santa Fe. An After-Party will be held at 7 p.m.

The Taste of Rancho Santa Fe features “varied tastes of scrumptious bites from some of San Diego’s finest restaurants as well as award-winning wines poured by vintners adorning the California Coast from Temecula and Santa Barbara to Sonoma and Napa, and other leading beverage producers,” according to RSF Rotary’s website.

Del Mar Rose Society event to feature San Diego Rose Society president

Del Mar Rose Society presents Robert Russell, advisor to the San Diego Rose Garden in Balboa Park and president of the San Diego Rose Society. His topic will be “Designing a Rose Garden.” From beginning stages of planning, the layout, walkways, irrigation, fertilization, planting varieties of roses and the tools needed for successful rose gardening.

Pathways to Citizenship puts on Party with a Purpose

Pathways to Citizenship, a nonprofit immigration law center serving immigrant families in San Diego County, holds its annual fundraiser, Party with a Purpose, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 5 at the La Valle Coastal Club, 5690 Cancha de Golf. Vision of Children’s ‘A Night for Sight’ benefit concert

The Vision of Children Foundation (VOC) will host its flagship biennial benefit concert, A Night for Sight, on Saturday, Oct. 18, at The Sound in Del Mar. This year’s event features legendary rock band Jefferson Starship, offering guests a one-of-a-kind evening of music, fine dining, and philanthropy in support of groundbreaking research to cure childhood blindness, according to a news release.

Batiquitos Lagoon to hold nature walk “Life and Death at the Lagoon”

Bariquitos Lagoon will hold a docent- led nature walk on Sept. 20 at 10 a.m. titled “Life and Death at the Lagoon.” Coastal estuaries are the scene of intense daily dramas of survival, featuring a cast of hundreds of species, and much of it is microscopic and underwater. Pacific Coast harmony to hold “Fall Into Harmony” concert

Pacific Coast Harmony (PCH) will present “Fall Into Harmony,” a show of modern four-part a cappella harmony music on Saturday, Sept. 27, at 2 p.m. at the Schulman Auditorium at Carlsbad Library (1775 Dove Lane, Carlsbad, 92011). Historic downtown Encinitas Walking Tour

The Encinitas Historical Society offers a fun educational walking tour of downtown Encinitas on the third Saturday of every month. The tours begin at 10 a.m., starting at the 1883 One-Room Schoolhouse, located at 390 West F Street. There is plenty of free parking available. On Sept. 20, the tour will cover the south end of the Coast Highway.

The Encinitas Historical Society has implemented a suggested donation of $10 per person. 19th Annual Kayak Fundraiser & Cleanup

The Batiquitos Lagoon Foundation holds its 19th Annual Kayak Fundraiser & Cleanup Oct. 11-12. Participants can kayak in waters typically closed to boating and help preserve the lagoon habitat by removing trash. The cost is $160 per two-person tandem kayak.This two-hour experience includes check-in, personal flotation device, water safety instructions and about 90 minutes kayaking in the ecological reserve. Voices for Children seeks volunteers

The San Diego nonprofit Voices for Children is looking for volunteers to serve as Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) and stand up for foster children in need. Volunteers are trained and supported by the nonprofit to speak up for children in foster care in court, school and medical settings to make sure their needs are met. 29th Annual Oktoberfest and Artisan Faire

Bright Kids is sponsoring the kids play zone with inflatable slides, an obstacle course, games and a rock-climbing wall —ensuring fun for the whole family.

The festival spans 1/3 of a mile along Mountain Vista Drive off El Camino Real, between Wandering Road and Rambling Road.
