Red eyes, sore throat, headaches? Welcome to fall allergy season in Houston

  • September 17, 2025

HOUSTON – Red eyes, sore throat, headaches—welcome to fall allergy season, Houston!

Happening Tuesday, weed pollen is skyrocketing, with mold and tree pollen leaving no room for improvement.

This is why we are asking Dr. Vital from Vital Allergy & Asthma Center: What are the telltale signs you’re suffering from seasonal sniffles?

The answer?

Itchy eyes, itchy throat, congestion, cough, itchy skin, and, fatigue.

In a perfect world, we’d hide indoors from Houston’s brutal fall allergens, but that’s not an easy fix. From pollen-dusted pillows to pet paws tracking mold, what are the behavioral changes needed to help harvest allergy relief?

The answer?

After being outdoors, wash off allergens immediately. Shower thoroughly to rinse away pollen, and always remove your shoes at the door, leaving them there to prevent dragging irritating particles through your home.

With temperatures soaring this fall and forecasts predicting warmth through November, what’s in store for your allergies? Brace for an extended sneeze-fest! Warmer weather fuels pollen production and keeps mold thriving, dragging out allergy misery. Are we 🍂 falling 🍁 into a longer, itchier allergy season?

The answer?

With warmer temperatures, there will be increased pollen levels—weed, mold, and tree pollen linger longer, fueled by warm air and pollution.

So, even though our Texas plants are beautiful, we have to be prepared for more allergies.
