SAN ANTONIO — The city of San Antonio has completed the installation of a new crosswalk on the southeast side, following the tragic death of Jeanette Espitia.

The crosswalk is located at the intersection of South East Military and Old Corpus Christi Highway.

Espitia, who was 8-months-pregnant, was killed at the site after being struck by a driver. According to police, she had just stepped off a city bus and was crossing the street with her 1-year-old child when the incident occurred.

Police said Espitia heroically pushed her little girl out of harm’s way to prevent her from being hit. The driver involved in the accident stopped to help and was not charged.
