Seen & Heard: Work has begun at 65 Franklin

DIGGING HAS STARTED AT 65 FRANKLIN
Work has begun — after seven years of delays — at 59 – 65 Franklin on Broadway. Here’s hoping for progress. Thanks to J. for the shot.

COCOON CLASSES + DONATION DRIVE
Cocoon is now offering classes to the general public — aka non-members — including breakdancing by Kid Glyde and robotics by Brooklyn Robot Foundry, both suitable for ages 3-6 years.

Cocoon is also hosting its annual “Fill-a-Truck Drive” on Saturday, September 27, from 10a to noon where they fill a truck from the charity organization Room to Grow with donated items for families: clothing, gear and equipment, toys and books, linens. View donation guidelines here and their wishlist here.

CHABAD’S ROCK THE BLOCK NEW DATE
Chabad of Tribeca will host its annual street fair “Rock the Block” on a new date (the first was rained out) on Sunday, October 5, from 11a to 1p, on Duane between Greenwich and Hudson. The event is free and features moon bounces, pony rides, glitter tattoos, big bubbles, youth zone with soccer, basketball & chess, toddler area, Mitzvah project, ice cream & more. RSVP required for security purposes.

MAISON PASSERELLE FOR LUNCH
Maison Passerelle, the restaurant inside the French department store Printemps inside One Wall, is now open for lunch. Hours are 11a to 2p. I have yet to write up the dinner I had there ages ago — will get to it — but the lunch menu includes a burger ($32), pan-roasted bass ($46) and a local chicories salad, “for the better-disciplined,” as the staff said.
