Sesame Place San Diego will close for fall and winter, the theme park announced Tuesday.

CHULA VISTA, Calif. — Sesame Place San Diego will transition to a seasonal schedule, suspending operations during the fall and winter months, the amusement park announced on Tuesday.

In social media posts, the theme park stated that its final operating day for this season will be Sunday, September 21, and that it will welcome guests back to the park in Spring 2026. The exact date of the reopening has not been released.

“By focusing on our most popular times of year, we can deliver the best possible experience from the moment guests arrive until the moment they leave,” the post read.

The park is offering each 2025 Season Pass Holder a complimentary SeaWorld Fun Card, which will be valid through the remainder of the year. The card will offer unlimited admission to SeaWorld and access to seasonal events, including Halloween Spooktacular and Christmas Celebration.

Reaction to the change has been strong online. Some Facebook commenters asked about The Count’s Halloween Spooktacular and what will happen to the event. Others asked about what would happen to employees at the park.

CBS 8 reached out to SeaWorld and Sesame Place to ask if park employees will be transferred. Sesame Place said the employees will be transferred to SeaWorld during the off-season.
