GILA RIVER INDIAN RESERVATION, AZ (AZFamily) — A traffic backup grew on Interstate 10 at the southern edge of the Valley due to a crash early Wednesday morning.
Troopers initially responded to a semi-truck that had a tire blowout around 3:30 a.m. on I-10 eastbound just south of Riggs Road. That response caused the closure of one eastbound lane.
Around 5:20 a.m., authorities from the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) said eastbound I-10 had been completely closed south of Riggs Road due to a crash. The road was reopened by 6:20 a.m.
After the lanes reopened, the backup on eastbound I-10 stretched about 5 miles, nearly to the SR-347.
Details of the crash are not yet available. Arizona’s Family is working to learn more information.
