The RIM shopping center will soon have a sporty new addition: Discount chain Sierra, the outdoorsy sibling of T.J. Maxx, is making its Texas debut at 17815 La Cantera Pkwy. #120 on September 20.

The big-box store’s format will feel familiar to Maxxinistas. The chain offers 20 to 60 percent discounts on brand-name apparel and accessories, including Adidas, Eddie Bauer, Timberland, and Lucky Brand.

Unlike its parent company’s other brands, Sierra is primarily focused on an active lifestyle. The store has aisles dedicated to fitness gear, fishing, cycling, camping, and hunting equipment, though it steers clear of selling guns.

Even the home goods have a little granola flair. A selection of scatter rugs on the website is woven with woodland scenes, and the accent furniture leans towards natural woods and wicker that would not look out of place in a cabin or RV.

“Our goal at Sierra is to make active lifestyles more accessible by providing high-quality apparel, footwear, and gear at incredible value,” says Amanda Johnson, Assistant Vice President of Marketing, via a release. “We’re committed to helping people stay moving for less while enjoying the activities they love most.”

Sierra will celebrate its grand opening with a DJ, giveaways, a hidden tag game, and an appearance from KONO 101 personality Tony Cortez. Behind the scenes, the company is also giving back to the community with a $10,000 donation to local nonprofit Project MEND.

Later in the year, The RIM will also score a new Marshalls outpost, making the shopping center one of only two American shopping centers with all five TJX Company concepts. The new additions will make The RIM a bargain hunter’s paradise. In addition to the TJX stores, the shopping center boasts discount retailers Nordstrom Rack, Saks Off Fifth, DSW, and Popshelf.
