A 14-year-old boy was shot in the back while standing in a doorway in North Philadelphia on Wednesday night, police said.

The shooting occurred at around 5:43 p.m. at the 1500 block of West Lehigh Avenue, police said.

Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small said that the teen was standing in the front doorway when he was shot, causing him to stumble outside.

According to Small, other teens were at the home at the time, which is not the home of the teen shot.

Police have not been able to go inside the house yet because they are waiting for a warrant, but the investigation is ongoing, Small said.

The teen was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition, Small said.

Anyone with any information on either incident is urged to contact the Philadelphia Police Department at 215-686-TIPS (8477) or anonymously online here.
