Emma Raducanu has taken a very calm approach to her career on and off the court, but that hasn’t stopped the tennis community from speculating about her personal life.

It was announced this month that Raducanu will team up with Carlos Alcaraz for mixed doubles at the US Open later this summer. They actually practiced together at Wimbledon earlier this week.
Raducanu confirmed that her practice session with Alcaraz was in partnership with Evian. They’re both ambassadors for the company. That hasn’t stopped people from speculating about their friendship.
During a media session this Saturday afternoon, Raducanu was asked about her dynamic with Alcaraz. There have been some rumors about them dating, but that hasn’t been confirmed.
“There’s been lots of chatter online about your friendship with Carlos,” a reporter asked. “Is there any truth behind the rumors?”

Raducanu replied, “We’re just good friends.” That ended up being the last question she faced for the day.

Even though Raducanu handled this question incredibly well, tennis fans were furious that a reporter thought it was OK to ask about her personal life.
“Extremely unprofessional to ask,” one fan said.
“Tennis reporter should not ask such questions,” a social media user wrote.
“Honestly .. what passes for journalists these days,” another fan asked.
“This is so cringe, like for this to move into mainstream media is ugh. Leave it alone because you’re making everyone uncomfortable,” one person commented.

The reporter who asked Raducanu this question has not yet revealed themselves.
As for Raducanu, she’s hoping to silence all the outside noise and make a run at Wimbledon. She made it to the fourth round of the tournament last year before losing to Lulu Sun.
On Monday afternoon, Raducanu will kick off her quest for a Wimbledon title against Mingge Xu.
