Jake Paul is looking to take out a second former boxing world champion when he faces Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on Saturday night. Paul is coming off a win over 58-year-old Mike Tyson in a fight that disappointed in the ring but drew massive worldwide attention.
In Chavez, Paul faces a former middleweight champion and the son of one of the best boxers of all time. Chavez’s career after winning the WBC middleweight title in 2011 was marred by weight cutting issues and issues with drug tests. After losing the title in 2012, Chavez never again was a legitimate title contender but kept his career chugging along.
Paul’s controversial career has seen him face very few legitimate boxers, which makes a fight with Chavez interesting in a way. Paul’s lone loss came against Tommy Fury, who at least had some boxing experience, and outside of quick knockouts of two club fighters, the only other “real” boxer Paul has faced is Tyson.
