While anyone is welcome to call the Los Angeles County Arboretum & Botanic Garden by its full and proper name, many regulars refer to it as “the Arboretum,” a sweet and simple shorthand for an expansive place.
But some of the garden’s fans might be inclined to call it by its other name, or at least a special handle it assumes a couple of times each year: The Arf-oretum.
We are, of course, talking about our canine friends, and the fact that Fidos can call upon the leafy Arcadia-based destination every now and then, when a special event is afoot.
Or four-foot, rather. And such an event is trotting into view Oct. 4, when Barks & Boos returns to The Arf-oretum for a dogly day of cute costumes, easy strolling, and a dog costume contest.
Presented by fera pets, the annual fall event will include a visit from Pasadena Humane, which means that, yes, adoptable cuties will be in the house (or in the garden, we do mean).
Mt. Lowe Brewing Company will be there, and food trucks, too, and an agility course if your pooch wants to give it a go.
Humans will need to purchase admission to enter the LA Arboretum and your pup? The entry fee for a dog is $10.
Read up on all you need to know — dogs will need to be leashed, for starters — then start thinking of the most creative canine costumes that would suit your honeybun.
Perhaps something inspired by the famous garden? A pup dressed as a peacock? Or maybe a beautiful flower?
Trot by this site for more on this sunny and sweet autumn outing, one that is for garden enthusiasts, autumn aficionados, and any four-legged lover of The Arf-oretum.
