Shaun White is denying speculation that he cheated on ex-fiancée Nina Dobrev, but according to the actress’ inner circle, she dodged a bullet.
“Their breakup has been completely out of the blue to some people, but the consensus is Nina deserves better,” a source tells Star, noting that the five-time Olympian, 39, had no shortage of opportunities to find himself in the company of other women.
“Shaun’s a celebrity in the sports world and women are constantly going up to him and wanting to talk to him, so the rumors that he was seen with other women in Austin aren’t that far-fetched,” says the source. “But the question is, how much did he participate?”
On September 5, Dobrev, 36, took to Instagram to share a series of photos that included sweet snaps with White. However, one fan seized the post as an opportunity to share a shocking claim about White.
“Just btw, I saw your fiancé in Austin, Texas last week at a bar,” the person wrote. “His friend came up and threatened me to put my phone away and not take pictures of him and these 2 girls he was with.”

The Vampire Diaries alum didn’t publicly respond to the fan, but just six days later, People announced that the couple had split up after five years together.
“Everyone is rushing to judgment, but it’s been an unspoken dirty little secret he’s a sucker for a pretty girl,” the source tells Star. “Even while he was with Nina, he would check them out.”
Though a source told People that Dobrev was “devastated,” by the split, she didn’t appear to be licking her wounds during a recent getaway with Miles Teller, his wife Keleigh Teller, Chace Crawford and his girlfriend Kelsey Merritt, and Zac Efron.
On Thursday, September 18, Keleigh shared photos on Instagram taken during the group’s trip, including one photo of Dobrev seemingly without a care in the world, laying out in a bathing suit while enjoying a drink.
