1. The families of 12 more victims join lawsuit against Hill Country resort

On Aug. 12, Glasheen, Valles & Inderman Injury Lawyers announced that they filed a lawsuit on behalf of the family of Jayda Floyd, a 22-year-old from Odessa, Texas, who tragically lost her life when floodwaters swept through HTR TX Hill Country Resort, a luxury RV park and campground on the Guadalupe River in Kerrville, Texas.

On Friday, the families of 12 additional victims joined the lawsuit against HTR TX Hill Country Resort.

2. Rep. Michael McCaul explains why he’s not seeking reelection to Congress after 20 years

This week, Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Austin, became the third Republican U.S. House member from Texas to announce his retirement, after Rep. Morgan Luttrell, R-Magnolia, and Rep. Chip Roy, R-Austin. McCaul recently spoke with Spectrum News about his accomplishments in Congress and why he is leaving.

3. Texas A&M president steps down but doesn’t say if controversial classroom video was a factor

The president of Texas A&M University, roiled by the posting of a video showing a confrontation between a student and a professor during a course in which gender identity was discussed, on Friday did not offer a specific reason for why he’s stepping down but said in the past few days “it’s become clear that now is that time” to leave.
