THE FAA SAYS THIS IS ALL FROM A TELECOMMUNICATION OUTAGE. AIR TRAFFIC CONTROLLERS RELY ON THESE PHONE LINES TO CONNECT THEIR FACILITIES, INCLUDING THE AIRPORT TOWERS AND TERMINAL RADAR APPROACH CONTROL. AND THAT HANDLES FLIGHTS ARRIVING OR DEPARTING AIRPORTS. AT LAST CHECK, THERE WERE OVER 230 FLIGHT CANCELLATIONS AT DFW, AND THAT’S ACCORDING TO THE WEBSITE FLIGHTAWARE.
