The Phoenix Mercury advanced to the WNBA semifinals with a win over the New York Liberty on Friday night.
They will take on the Minnesota Lynx in a best-of-five series starting on Sunday in the Twin Cities.
The series will follow a 2-2-1 format with Game 2 slated for Tuesday and the Mercury hosting Game 3 on Friday.
If necessary, Game 4 will be in Phoenix on Sept. 28 and Game 5 will be back in Minnesota on Sept. 30.
Last time the Mercury made it this far
In 2021, the Mercury lost in the Finals to the Chicago Sky.
They have made the playoffs in two of the four season since but lost in the first round both times.
Head coach Nate Tibbetts has led the Mercury to the playoffs in both of his seasons as head coach. This was the first series win for Tibbetts as head coach.
Mercury results vs. the Lynx this season
The Lynx won the season series vs the Mercury 3-1 this season.
The first game was a 74-71 win for the Lynx in Phoenix on May 30.
They Lynx took the second game by a 23-point margin, 88-65, in Minnesota on June 3.
Finally, the Mercury got some revenge on July 9 with a 79-71 win back in Arizona.
The Lynx capped off the series finale with a 79-66 win over the Mercury on July 16.
