d4vd arrives at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2024, in Los Angeles.
The Los Angeles Police Department collected “several items of evidence” during a search warrant at a home reportedly tied to Houston-raised singer d4vd as part of its investigation into the death of a 15-year-old girl found in his car earlier this month.
A spokesperson for LAPD confirmed to Houston Public Media on Thursday that detectives from its robbery-homicide division conducted a search warrant for a West Hollywood home in connection with the death of Celeste Rivas.
“Several items of evidence were recovered and will be analyzed by detectives in the coming days,” an LAPD spokesperson said.
Representatives for d4vd could not be reached for comment.
Death of 15-year-old
On Sept. 8, a decomposed body was found in a car in Los Angeles, which had been impounded the previous week. The car, a Tesla with Texas license plates, was registered to David Anthony Burke, better known by his stage name d4vd, according to the Los Angeles Times. The car had been abandoned five days before, towed to Hollywood Tow, where someone smelled a foul odor coming from the front trunk of the car.

On Wednesday, the body was identified as that of 15-year-old Rivas, whom LAPD referred to as Celeste Rivas Hernandez. As of Friday, she did not have a cause of death listed by the Los Angeles County medical examiner’s office. A spokesperson for the office said Rivas “was found severely decomposed” and appeared “to have been deceased inside the vehicle for an extended period of time before being found.”
An LAPD spokesperson noted its investigators were “following up on several leads” and encouraged anyone with information about the girl’s death to contact them.
Cypress home incidents
In the Houston area, where d4vd is originally from, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office responded to two false alarms at a home which public records list as owned by d4vd’s family.
On Monday, the sheriff’s office responded to the Cypress home after a security alarm was tripped, only to find it had been a false alarm. The next day, deputies again responded to a similar call at the house with another false alarm, according to a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office.
d4vd tour dates canceled
As the case rapidly developed this week, the popular “Romantic Homicide” singer appeared to have canceled the final three dates on his U.S. tour.
Since August, d4vd had been touring his debut album “Withered,” including in the immediate aftermath of the news that the 15-year-old girl’s body was found. After she had been identified by Los Angeles officials, though, d4vd’s concert in Seattle was canceled.
A San Francisco show on Friday was listed as canceled by its venue, the Warfield. A Saturday performance at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles was removed from the venue’s website.
