Head coach Glen Glutuzan’s second stint in Dallas is off to a winning start.
The Stars kicked off their 2025 preseason with a 2-1 shootout win against the St. Louis Blues at American Airlines Center.
Goaltender Antoine Bibeau was the hero late, stopping the Blues’ three attempts in the shootout. Thanks to Bibeau’s efforts, Dallas only needed Sam Steel’s successful shootout attempt to win the game.
In the first period, it didn’t take long for the skaters to get warmed back up to NHL action. The Stars’ Justin Hryckowian and Blues’ Nathan Walker got into a feisty scrap early, each getting a fighting penalty less than five minutes into the game.

It took a while longer to open the scoring though, which St. Louis’ 2025 first round selection Justin Carbonneau did on the power play less than a minute into the second period.
The Stars, who outshot the Blues 34-15 on the night, evened the score later in the second period through Mavrik Bourque. The Dallas forward, who amassed 25 points in 73 games last season, tied it after he cleaned up the rebound on an Alexander Petrovic slap shot from the blue line.
The game remained tied at 1-1 throughout the third period and overtime, with both teams killing penalties in those periods, including a Blues penalty kill in overtime which effectively forced the shootout.
