More than 20 years after the show “Friends” left the air, its iconic Central Perk cafe is opening this fall in Times Square.

Unlike previous recreations of the beloved coffee shop, this new addition isn’t a pop-up or photo-op. On the northeast corner of Seventh Avenue and 47th Street, “Friends” fans will be able to order coffee and treats at this fully-functioning cafe and lounge on an orange sofa inspired by the iconic set piece.

Iconic Central Perk permanently returns home to NYC

There has been a litany of”Friends” set recreations and pop-ups over the years, including the iconic orange sofa’s world tour and the immersive “Friends” experience in different cities around the world.

But this new cafe is one of the first times fans can actually order coffee and treats at a Central Perk location, just like their favorite NYC friend group once would.

Building off of the success of the first location in Boston, which debuted in 2024, the new cafe blends 1990s nostalgia with modern coffee culture.

Guests will be able to order artisanal drinks and food from a series-inspired menu under the guidance of Tom Collichio, the “Top Chef” judge and James Beard Award winner.

The cafe is created by Warner Bros. Discovery Global Experiences, Central Perk Coffee Co. and CenPer Holdings, and aims to bring the spirit of the beloved show to the city wherein it was set.

“‘Friends’ is one of those rare shows that continues to bring people together, generation after generation,” Peter van Roden, EVP at Warner Bros. Discovery, said in a statement. “At the heart of the story was always Central Perk…a place where laughter, connection, and unforgettable moments were shared.”

Visitors will also be able to purchase merchandise exclusive to the New York location along with Central Perk’s six signature coffee blends. Fans can also order those beans to take home or purchase online or at select stores.
