NFL Week 3 predictions: Why we picked Colts, 49ers, and Falcons
If you need help with your NFL picks this week, Lorenzo is here with his three best bets ahead of Sunday’s Week 3 games.
Lorenzo’s Locks
The Giants (0-2) head home for the first time this season as they host the Kansas City Chiefs (0-2) in Week 3 on Sunday night from MetLife Stadium.
The G-Men played in the NFL’s game of the week on Sunday, a thriller that featured a 77-point shootout against the Cowboys in which they came up short, 40-37, in overtime.
It’s the Giants’ 14th consecutive loss against Cowboys QB Dak Prescott and ninth straight defeat versus Dallas, as Big Blue starts a season 0-2 for the seventh time in the last nine seasons.
Our prognosticators throughout the 2025 season are: Art Stapleton (Giants/NFL writer, NorthJersey.com), Bert Bainbridge (sports trending reporter/columnist, NorthJersey.com), Brian Marron (digital producer, NorthJersey.com), Chris Iseman (Rutgers writer, NorthJersey.com), Bob Jordan (sports editor, Asbury Park Press/APP.com) and Dave Rivera (sports editor, USA TODAY Northeast/NorthJersey.com).
NFL Week 3 predictions and staff standings
Art Stapleton, Bert Bainbridge, Chris Iseman and Dave Rivera: 2-0
Brian Marron and Bob Jordan: 1-1
With both teams desperate to avoid an 0-3 start, here are our staff predictions for the Giants’ home opener versus the Chiefs:
Art Stapleton
The pick: Chiefs 31, Giants 21
Here’s why: It’s hard to imagine Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid and Co. will start this year 0-3. The Giants found something with Russell Wilson and an attacking passing game with Malik Nabers, Wan’Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton. Old friend Steve Spagnuolo will look to take that away, which will put pressure on rookie RB Cam Skattebo and Tyrone Tracy to get any semblance of a run game to keep Mahomes on the sideline. This is one heck of a run of quarterbacks the Giants have to face, and Justin Herbert is up next.
Bert Bainbridge
The pick: Chiefs 27, Giants 17
Here’s why: The Giants offense woke up in Week 2 against the Cowboys. Consistently moving the ball up and down the field won’t come as easy against former Giants’ defensive coordinator and interim head coach Steve Spagnuolo and this Chiefs defense.
The G-Men will hang around and keep it close against the reigning AFC champions, but ultimately Kansas City will come out on top and be the team that avoids the dreadful 0-3 start to the 2025 season.
Dave Rivera
The pick: Chiefs 24, Giants 20
Here’s why: The Giants are coming off one the toughest losses you can imagine, and now they have to face a desperate Chiefs team on Sunday night. The good thing is the Giants’ home opener will generate enough energy for them to hang around in this game. It won’t be the shootout that was Week 2 in Dallas, but a strong effort nonetheless on Sunday night.
Brian Marron
The pick: Chiefs 27, Giants 17
Here’s why: Who are the Giants offensively? The explosive unit against the Cowboys, or the anemic one against the Commanders? It is tough to trust the team either way at this point, especially against a Chiefs team that is desperate and boasts one of the better defenses in football.
Chris Iseman
The pick: Chiefs 28, Giants 17
Here’s why: No reason to think the Giants will pick up their first win against the Chiefs, who are going to be desperate to avoid falling to 0-3.
Bob Jordan
The pick: Giants 31, Chiefs 27
Here’s why: For the first time since Patrick Mahomes became Kansas City’s starting quarterback, the Chiefs have opened a season 0-2. The Giants can sit back and defend the pass because the Chiefs can’t run the ball – Mahomes leads his team with 123 rushing yards, and that’s more than all the other backs combined.
