Re “Local pet adoption costs may rise” (Sept. 18): How, in the name of all that’s rational, did the brain trust at City Hall think raising adoption rates is a good idea? I thought the goal of the Humane Society and rescue groups is to adopt out as many animals as possible, giving both families and animals enjoyment for years. If they go through with their plan to raise rates as significantly as the article said, more animals will languish at shelters, filling them to capacity and necessitating more euthanasia of beautiful, healthy animals.
Is this what they want? I certainly hope not.
