• Cashless services to resume at AHPI member hospitals from October 10

  • AHPI withdraws earlier advisory to halt services from September 22

  • Both parties to resolve pending issues like tariff revisions by October 31

In a major relief for patients and policyholders, the Association of Healthcare Providers of India (AHPI) and Star Health and Allied Insurance have announced the resumption of cashless services at AHPI member hospitals starting October 10, 2025.

This decision follows detailed discussions between the two sides aimed at resolving ongoing issues. AHPI had earlier issued an advisory to stop cashless services from September 22, but it has now revoked that decision.

The renewed agreement ensures uninterrupted access to medical care for patients holding Star Health policies. Both organisations emphasized that the move is designed to ease financial stress on families during medical emergencies and keep healthcare access seamless.

Looking ahead, AHPI and Star Health have committed to resolving all remaining matters, including tariff revisions, by October 31. As a long term step, AHPI will also support forming an industry-level working group to collaborate with insurers. This group will aim to create patient friendly agreements and prevent future service disruptions.

Girdhar Gyani, Director General of AHPI, said the decision reflects the association’s strong focus on building a patient-centric healthcare system. Anand Roy, MD & CEO of Star Health, added that restoring cashless services is part of their commitment to accessible, stress free healthcare.

AHPI represents over 15,000 hospitals across India and plays a key role in healthcare policy and reforms. Star Health, operating since 2006, is a leading standalone health insurer with a network of over 11,300 hospitals and a FY25 gross written premium of Rs 17,553 crore.

With cashless services back in place, patients can once again receive treatment without worrying about upfront payments, a crucial step toward inclusive and timely healthcare access.
