Boyle Heights — A man armed with a rifle exchanged gunfire with police early this morning in Boyle Heights, authorities said.
Officers were dispatched at about 12:25 a.m. today to a call of a man with a rifle firing rounds in the 300 block of North Myers Street, near Mission Road and the 101 Freeway, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“Officers encountered a suspect, at which time there was an officer- involved shooting,” police said. “The suspect fled and a large perimeter was established.”
A K-9 unit and SWAT team were dispatched to the location to search within the perimeter. Police later said “multiple individuals” were detained within the perimeter and investigators were attempting to determine their involvement in the incident.
No officers were injured.
