The life of slain conservative political activist Charlie Kirk was honored at a public memorial called “Building a Legacy: Remembering Charlie Kirk” on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
The event is being put on by Turning Point USA (TPUSA), the youth political action organization Kirk co-founded in 2012.

Traffic building after road closures for Charlie Kirk memorial began Saturday
Heavy traffic built up Sunday morning as thousands headed to Charlie Kirk’s memorial at Glendale’s State Farm Stadium after road closures for it began on Saturday, authorities said.
The Arizona Department of Public Safety announced on Sunday morning that the Glendale off-ramp from the Loop 101 Agua Fria Freeway was closed for both north and southbound directions for the event.
Police say to expect ‘Super Bowl’ level of security at Charlie Kirk memorial on Sunday
Turning Point USA has told attendees to expect “TSA-level” security at the memorial for co-founder Charlie Kirk on Sunday at State Farm Stadium in Glendale.
The city’s police department is taking a step further.
“This is at the level of the Super Bowl,” Glendale Police Department spokesman Jose Santiago told KTAR News 92.3 FM.
Elderly hiker in critical condition after being rescued from Phoenix mountain
An elderly woman was hospitalized Friday after apparently succumbing to the heat while hiking in north Phoenix, authorities said.
Technical rescue crews were dispatched to North Mountain around 1:15 p.m. in response to reports that a hiker was experiencing heat-related issues, according to the Phoenix Fire Department.
Firefighters hiked up to where the woman was and carried her down the mountain.
New million-dollar community in Phoenix celebrates grand opening
A new neighborhood that will consist of eight homes, starting at $1.6 million apiece, is celebrating its grand opening in midtown Phoenix.
The Viridian neighborhood is located near the intersection of 14th Street and Bethany Home Road, and will host a celebration from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27.
