Clouds and scattered showers will taper off from northwest to southeast and should move out of San Diego County by Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
Rain chances will diminish into Tuesday morning but could return later in the day and into early Wednesday, forecasters said.
High temperatures Tuesday are expected to reach 79 near the coast, 80 to 85 inland, 83 to 87 in the western valleys, 85 to 90 near the foothills, 79 to 87 in the mountains and 96 to 100 in the deserts.
Temperatures will hover near to just below seasonal averages with coastal low clouds gradually decreasing through the week, according to meteorologists.
Drier conditions are expected Thursday and Friday before a weak system brings a chance of afternoon showers in the mountains Friday and Saturday. By Sunday, the disturbance will shift east, leading to warmer, drier weather into early next week.
