Authorities are investigating a shooting involving a San Diego police officer in City Heights Tuesday.
The shooting occurred about a block away from the Colina Del Sol Park, outside an apartment complex near the intersection of Altadena and Orange avenues.
The San Diego Sheriff’s Department will be handling an investigation into the shooting, per a countywide memorandum of understanding that prevents departments from investigating incidents involving their own officers.
It appeared one person was dead, according to a NBC 7 news crew at the scene.
No official details about the shooting were immediately available.
SDPD Lt. Travis Easter said no schools in the area were affected at this time and there was no threat to the community.
