PHOENIX – The search for a suspect continues a day after a deadly shooting in the East Valley town of Guadalupe, authorities said Tuesday.

The Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office launched its investigation after a man was killed Monday morning.

Deputies initially responded to the area for a shooting call around 8:30 a.m. A SWAT team set up a perimeter at a house near Calle Bella Vista and Calle Barbarita.

“The SWAT team takes priority because we need to make sure that everything around the area is safe if there is a suspect inside,” Sgt. Joaquin Enriquez told reporters near the scene Monday morning.

However, no suspect was found at the home.

MCSO asks public for help finding suspect in deadly shooting

The initial search effort prevented detectives from processing the crime scene until late Monday afternoon.

While pursuing the leads they have, investigators are asking the public for help.

Anybody with information about the deadly shooting is asked to contact MCSO at 602-876-1011 or 602-876-TIPS to remain anonymous.

“This is a very tight-knit community,” Enriquez said Monday. “Our hope is that if someone has any information in reference to what happened today that they’ll call the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.”

Guadalupe is a small town with about 5,000 residents tucked between Tempe and Phoenix’s Ahwatukee neighborhood.
