Lincoln boss Micheal Skubala speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: “We haven’t got the result so we are a bit frustrated, but when you look at the performance the lads in the first half were magnificent. Not many teams press Chelsea how we pressed them tonight.

“We were so aggressive and got on top of the game. For the first 15 minutes they could not get out of their third, we hit the post early, and we create an atmosphere here and the fans are amazing, so I am really proud of the overall performance.

“Huge respect to Enzo [Maresca] because he has brought some big players here. Looking at the players on the pitch towards the end we were still trying to get something. A period of five minutes of quality that they have has hurt us.”

On the quick turnaround from Chelsea: “We knew at half time that they might change to a 2-2 in midfield, and they did that. We knew it was going to happen but we became a bit passive on it. We became passive on our jumping and when that happens the quality shows because they get a lot more space.

“The ball drops to him [George] and it’s a great finish. If the ball hits the outside of the post then that’s a bit of luck. And then after that we probably get a bit spooked. But I thought we regrouped well and we started to get back on top of things and didn’t quite create enough big chances.”
