Events library specialist Cal Latour applies masking tape in the FabLab on Aug. 24, 2023, at the Central Library.
The FabLab will host a T-shirt Screen Printing Workshop from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the Central Library.
Attendees are required to bring their own shirts. FabLab maintenance technician Perla Vargas said she recommends bringing a shirt that is a higher cotton blend and not polyester so the design lasts longer.
Students will be guided through the foundations of screen printing and will be able to print a premade design onto their shirt.
“I really wanted something, a design that had to do with the FabLab but also kind of touched on the different areas of the FabLab,” Vargas said.
The designs were created by a previous student, and attendees will be able to choose from exploded views of a 3D printer, an embroidery machine, a tabletop saw and a glass kiln.
Spots are limited, with twelve total. There are around five spots currently available. Attendees will have a 15-minute grace period before their spot is given to another student.
Attendees can sign up for the workshop through the UTA Events Calendar. They are required to fill out a Microsoft form and must pay $10.
“It’s really important to develop skills not just in areas in which you are studying because it teaches you how to develop a skill, especially such a technical skill, but it’s also for your professional growth,” Vargas said.
