SAN ANTONIO – A quick-thinking FedEx delivery driver prevented a home from being a total loss.
Around 11 a.m. on Sunday, first responders were called to the scene of a major structure fire near the corner of Eagle Ridge Drive and White Tail Drive, near Ingram Road on the west side.
Crews at the scene said that the fire was first called in by a passing FedEx driver, who spotted the home on fire.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy flames coming from the home. Thankfully, the fire was vented, and thanks to the quick reaction of the FedEx driver, crews were able to head right to the source of the fire, minimizing damage.
The family who lives in the home had reportedly gone on vacation, according to first responders, and thankfully, no pets or people were injured in the fire.
Initial damage estimates place the home at about 50% damaged, with repair and recovery of the building possible.
Investigators are still working to determine what caused the fire.
