The U.S. leg of Yusuf Cat Stevens’ book tour is at risk of cancellation due to “significant delays” with processing of the band’s performance visas, the “Peace Train” singer announced Wednesday.
The “Cat On The Road To Findout” tour is set to make a stop in Chicago on Oct. 14, though whether the show will go on remains uncertain.
“Despite our team’s exhaustive efforts, the required performance visas for Yusuf and his band have not yet been issued,” read a Facebook post from the Yusuf / Cat Stevens page.
The band is strongly advising fans to “hold all travel plans until official confirmation is provided.”
“We’ve prepared something truly special for my American audience, but this is out of our hands,” said a statement from Yusuf in the post.
They are “working urgently with authorities” and will provide updates “the moment we [they] have it,” the band said in the post.
Comments on the post expressed disappointment, and many advocated for a tour in Canada in the case that the band cannot secure the visas in time.
“Cat On The Road To Findout” is a memoir that gives readers a backstage pass to Stevens’ life, complete with dozens of illustrations by Stevens himself, according to his website.
