LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) – The Secretary of Kentucky’s Cabinet for Health and Family Services is speaking out about recent federal guidance.
It is coming on the heels of the Trump administration’s announcement linking acetaminophen, the active ingredient in Tylenol, to autism.
Secretary Dr. Steven Stack said pregnant women should consult their obstetrician or family physician about what they should do during pregnancy. Dr. Stack says the President’s announcement is undermining confidence.
“There is no evidence to meaningfully suggest that Tylenol or acetaminophen causes autism. Pregnant women should please not feel discouraged from using it,” Dr. Stack said. “If you have any doubts or questions, please seek guidance, not from a streaming online service or from a talking head.”
“Right now, and I never thought I would get to this point, I have to caution the public to not listen to a lot of what’s coming out of our federal health and human services agencies,” Dr. Stack said.
