Fresh off of “America’s Got Talent,” the boys of the Leo High School Choir are already getting a taste of fame as they return home to Chicago.
After placing fourth in the show’s finale Wednesday, the boys returned home to Chicago decked out in their signature bright orange jackets.
The choir turned the heads of strangers and fans alike after their flight from Los Angeles landed at O’Hare International Airport Thursday evening.
“We thought they were fantastic, just love them, love them, love them,” a fan of the choir said at the airport.
The choir spent four weeks in Los Angeles while competing on the most recent season of “America’s Got Talent,” missing classes and their school’s Homecoming.
The choir performed a rendition of “Hall of Fame” by The Script ahead of the finale episode.
Before that, they performed a cover of “Centuries” by Fall Out Boy, that earned them the votes needed to make it to the final round of the show.
The teens now go back to school, but the ‘AGT’ experience loaded them up with plans for the future.
Keith Smith, who became the face of the choir and its raw talent on AGT, said he’s “going right back to the studio” after a trip to Harold’s Chicken. He plans on “making some new music, a lot of stuff coming this is only the beginning,” he said.
He wants to come back to AGT in the future as a solo artist, Smith said.
“Dreams really do come true if you just believe in yourself and you work hard,” Smith said.
The choir’s director, Miss LaDonna Hill, said their story could be a movie.
The boys are focused on decompressing at the moment, choir director Miss LaDonna Hill said, but she said she thinks their story could one day be a movie.
“There are so many amazing stories within the story,” she said. “So often we hear that teachers are to inspire the students, but my students have inspired me.”
Choir member Tyshawn Brown said he enjoyed the whole AGT experience.
“Even though we placed fourth, I still enjoyed it,” he said. “I had an amazing time performing with all the great musicians, singers.”
The choir performed alongside Eric Lloyd and Aloe Blacc during the finale.
