100 Black Men of Chicago hosts major scholarship event

The path to college is getting a little easier for thousands of students as the 100 Black Men of Chicago prepares to host its 23rd annual College Scholarship Fair.

CHICAGO (WLS) — The path to college is getting a little easier for thousands of students as the 100 Black Men of Chicago prepares to host its 23rd annual College Scholarship Fair.

The event, set for October 11 at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s Dorin Forum, will bring together representatives from more than 200 colleges and universities, including historically Black institutions.

Organizers say the fair is one of the largest of its kind in the Midwest and has helped students secure more than $15 million in financial support since its launch. Some attendees have even received on-the-spot scholarship offers and conditional admissions.

The fair is free and open to students, parents and educators. High school juniors and seniors are encouraged to attend, but motivated underclassmen are also welcome. Students are advised to bring transcripts and recommendation letters if available.
