New Yorkers for Clean Air made the following statement in response to Governor Hochul’s Climate Week announcement to advance the Sustainable Future Fund:
“Governor Hochul’s launch of the Sustainable Future Fund marks an important milestone in New York’s clean energy transition. With $200 million for Thermal Energy Networks on SUNY campuses, $50 million for EmPower+ and another $250 million through HCR’s weatherization program, this Fund puts New York on the path toward cleaner air, lower costs, and stronger communities. These commitments will deliver efficiency and energy savings directly to families, alongside the Fund’s historic investments in renewables, building decarbonization, electric school buses, and EV charging.
“These commitments represent not just dollars on paper, but real progress toward cutting pollution, improving air quality, and protecting public health while creating thousands of good-paying jobs. We applaud the Governor’s leadership and look forward to seeing these investments and additional Clean Air Initiative investments continue to deliver lasting benefits for New Yorkers for years to come.”
