A 30-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of arson after he allegedly lit a trash can outside a store on fire Saturday evening, San Diego County sheriff’s deputies said.
The fire happened around 6:30 p.m. near the Walmart on Town Center Parkway in Santee. At least two witnesses told deputies that they saw a man ignite the trash in a trash can near the store.
The trash can was the only property that sustained damage, deputies said. Santee firefighters promptly extinguished the fire.
The man was arrested after two witnesses identified him to deputies, officials said. He’s being held in county jail in lieu of $50,000 bail.
