Scotch whiskey bottler selects Dallas for its U.S. debut

Scotland’s fastest-growing independent whiskey bottler, Saltire Rare Malt, has chosen Dallas for its official U.S. debut. In partnership with the Steak House Hall of Fame, Saltire’s single-cask Scotch whiskies will first be poured at Bob’s Steak & Chop House on Lemmon Ave. before its introduction to other steakhouses across the country.

From Saltire:

For decades, Bob’s Steak & Chop House has helped define the great American steakhouse tradition, earning a reputation for classic cuts, impeccable service, and Texas hospitality. Now, from Falkland, Fife – the birthplace of Scotch whisky over 530 years ago – to the heart of Dallas, Saltire’s arrival is more than an expansion. It is a cultural meeting of equals: Scotland’s rarest malts joining one of America’s most celebrated steakhouse names.

Keith Rennie, Founder & Director, Saltire Rare Malt mentioned, “We are honored to launch Saltire Rare Malt in the United States, beginning in Dallas — a city whose steakhouses are as iconic as Scotch whiskey itself. Great whiskey and great steak share the same values: heritage, craftsmanship, patience, and passion. This partnership celebrates those values together.”

This will be the exclusive single malt featured at the steakhouse. Saltire Rare Malt will debut at Bob’s Steak & Chop House on Monday, Sept. 29.

This October, head to Truluck’s to put your palates to the test with the return of the Sommelier’s Secret Red Wine Challenge.

And how does this work?

Guests can order a $20 mystery glass of red wine. If they guess the exact wine correctly, it’s free. And your glass will likely be valued at more than $20. But really, this isn’t just a chance to win a free glass, but to explore bold reds with labels from Bordeaux to Napa.

Don’ worry. There’s food, too.

The restaurant is featuring oysters at their peak with stone crab season kicking off soon. Curated pairings from crisp Sancerre to rich Bordeaux will complete the experience.

Red River Singoff kicks off TX-OU weekend at Galleria Dallas with signature cocktails

In what has become a Galleria Dallas tradition, nationally recognized choral groups from both UT and University of Oklahoma will perform a free concert for fans at Galleria Dallas on Oct. 10. Fans are also invited to share their team spirit with photo opportunities in the new Outdoor Plaza and with the spirit balloons that rise above the Galleria Dallas Ice Skating Center.

And, Tailored, the new cocktail bar at the Westin Galleria Dallas will offer a special pair of cocktails for TX-OU weekend that will be available Oct. 9 through the big weekend, each priced at $15.

They include:

Hook ’Em Highball: Bold, bright, and unmistakably Texan, the cocktail blends smooth bourbon with citrusy orange and lime, topped with a sparkling splash of soda. Finished with a salted rim and orange slice, it’s the perfect burnt orange tribute to Longhorn pride.

Boomer Crimson Cream: A rich blend of vodka, pomegranate, cranberry, and vanilla, crowned with a float of cream and whipped topping is a nod to the Sooners.
