Jellycat is opening a store in Chicago, marking the second official retail location in the United States for the viral London-based toy company.
Windows wrapped in light blue covers with the Jellycat logo can be seen in The Shops at North Bridge, located at 520 North Michigan Avenue, at the internal entrance to Nordstrom near the store’s shoe and cosmetic departments.
“Opening Early October,” the window wrapping says beneath the iconic image of Jellycat Jack, the company’s original plush toy: a black cat wearing an orange hat.
The new Chicago shop will open at 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to the Instagram account @nordycats that’s dedicated to Jellycat offerings in the Michigan Avenue Nordstrom location.
Though Jellycat has not posted about the store on its website or social media, a post on the official Instagram page for fans of Jellycats, @jellyfriends, revealed a few details about the new location.
“Get ready to hit the road… Jellycat Road Trip to Joy arrives at Nordstrom, Chicago on 30th September,” the post said.
Plus, the page says the Amuseable Carrot Cake Jellycat will be available exclusively at the Chicago shop.
It was not immediately clear if the new location is a temporary pop-up or a permanent location.
Jellycat has a handful of stores and experiences around the globe, including a patisserie in Paris, a diner in New York and a fish and chip stand in London — all where the plush toys are wrapped up and served to-go like real food.
Though the toys are available at many other retailers around the Chicago area, the new location will be the only official Jellycat store in the country apart from the Diner Experience at New York’s FAO Schwarz.
The popular London-based children’s toys have taken the world by storm, drawing love from kids and adults alike.
The amuseable plushes, like Chicago’s exclusive carrot cake, are known for their adorable grin and small little legs.
Many of their locations require reservations and it is unclear whether that is the case for the Chicago store.
Jellycat and Nordstrom both did not immediately respond to inquiries from NBC Chicago.
