JACKSONVILLE, Ark. – A man is dead, and another is facing capital murder charges after a shooting Saturday night.
According to a post on social media, officers with the Jacksonville Police Department responded to a shots fired call in the area of Beverly and Caroline.
Officers said when they arrived, they found a man in the roadway suffering from gunshot wounds. After being transported to an area hospital, he died from his injuries.
Police said that they made contact with 20-year-old Jay Longhibler of Jacksonville who told them he shot the man, later identified as Kelveontay Poole, in self-defense.

Longhibler told officers he agreed to sell Poole firearms in exchange for money and narcotics, but when he met with two men to conduct the transaction, one of them pulled out a gun and robbed him.
Police said that as the men ran away, gunfire was exchanged and Poole was struck. Longhibler was arrested and faces one count of capital murder.
