Another year, another season where the Union is a favorite to take home the MLS Cup. The team has stayed consistent for most of the year and is in line for the Supporters’ Shield once again.
Philadelphia is coming off a tough 1-0 win against the New England Revolution last Saturday, which came a few days after falling to Nashville SC in the U.S. Open Cup Semifinals. The Union are now focusing on trying to lock up first place in the Eastern Conference, as the club has just two matches left in the regular season after Saturday.
D.C. United does not have much to play for other than being a spoiler. The team has already been eliminated from playoff contention. Despite picking up a win over New York City FC late last month, the team has not had much to celebrate this season.
The Union enters Saturday atop the East, leading Cincinnati by two points.
