SAN ANTONIO — The San Antonio Police Department has released body-cam video and audio of 911 calls of a deadly officer involved shooting in August that resulted in the death of a 39-year-old man.

Officers were called around 10:30 a.m. on Aug. 29 to the 800 block of Cherry Street for reports of an individual shooting a shotgun and pointing the gun at people in the area.

Officers arrived shortly after and established a perimeter around the suspect’s home. Police say the suspect opened a side door and aimed the shotgun in the officer’s direction. Five officers then fired their weapons, striking the suspect, identified as Jaime Gonzalez. He was pronounced deceased at the scene.

SAPD says the officers involved have approximately 5 to 7 years of service with the department and will be placed on administrative duty until further notice. SAPD identified the officers involved as Officer Tyler Brown, 7 years of service, Officer Marco Trevino, 5 years of service, Officer Matthew Olivares, 5 years of service, Officer Joseph Orozco, 7 years of service,, and Officer Steven Flores, 6 years of service.

The SAPD Shooting Team and the Internal Affairs Unit will conduct separate but concurrent inquiries. As with all officer involved shootings, the District Attorney’s Office is reviewing this incident.
