Sunny set up for Sunday
Tropical outlook:
Hurricane Humberto is now a Category 5 hurricane. It is not impacting land, but because it is so strong, it is influencing soon-to-be Imelda.
Humberto will tug on Imelda, keeping the eye just off shore of the east coast. Don’t let that fool you because Florida, the Carolinas, Georgia, and Virginia will still feel impacts.
Is now a category 5 storm
Depression Number 9 (Soon to be Imelda): Continues to trigger Tropical storm watches and warnings for parts of the central and northwestern Bahamas and the east coast of Florida. Expect rainfall impacts across eastern Cuba, Hispaniola, and Jamaica.
Does not make landfall in the United States, instead the storm is guided by Humberto and tugged slightly farther to the east but it will still bring impacts across the SE United States.
We’re monitoring potential flood risks and heavy rainfall from Florida, Georgia to the Carolinas early next week. As some of our coastal state like South Carolina have already declared a preemptive state of emergency. Inland communities in North and South Carolina also need to be weather alert as tropical moisture will combine with a inland low pressure system that could lead to rain totals over 3 inches in high terrain.
Flood risk is elevated early week across The Carolinas and coastal Virginia
There are no tropical systems set to impact the Gulf Coast.
