Standard Meat Company celebrated its 90th birthday recently in true Fort Worth fashion: by cutting the ribbon on a brand-new plant just blocks from the historic Stockyards.
The fifth facility for the multi-generational family business will breathe new life into a 166,000-square-foot building on NE 23rd Street, first built in 1955 as a meat-processing plant.
The new facility, designed by the Schemmer Group and built by CSC Group, will feature state-of-the-art sous vide capabilities and the capacity for future production lines.
It marks another chapter in the story of a company founded in 1935 by Ben Rosenthal. His son, Manny, grandson Billy, and now Ben Rosenthal and his sister Ashli Rosenthal Blumenfeld have carried the family’s meat-cutting legacy through decades of change, reinvention, and innovation.
Ben Rosenthal today is CEO and co-president. Blumenfeld is co-president.
From pioneering steak portioning in the mid-20th century to serving national foodservice clients today, Standard Meat has always been equal parts tradition and transformation.
Ninety years on, the Rosenthals of Texas are still doing what their founder set out to do—feeding growth, fueling jobs, and, once again, tying Fort Worth’s future back to its Stockyards roots.
Happy birthday, Standard Meat.
