Also receiving votes: Lancaster, Trophy Club Byron Nelson

Dropped out: Lancaster (15-tied), Mansfield Lake Ridge (20), Euless Trinity (15-tied)

Notable: DeSoto is back, in case anyone was wondering. A 40-17 win over Waxahachie, which beat Duncanville the week before, was a big step toward winning the District 11-6A title. But a showdown with three-time state champion Duncanville on Oct. 10 will go a long way toward deciding which team finishes first in the “District of Doom.”

Cedar Hill took Lancaster’s place at No. 15 after beating its district rival, and Euless Trinity dropped out after a 38-13 loss to Byron Nelson.

Class 4A

Also receiving votes: No one

Dropped out: No one

Notable: Panther Creek fell just short in its bid to take the top spot from Celina, losing a back-and-forth slugfest that could end up deciding the District 7-4AI title. Lincoln moved up after beating Pinkston 34-13, while Sunnyvale and Lake Dallas lost to non-area teams.
