MURRAY, KY — The Murray State women’s basketball team officially kicked off the 2025-26 season on Monday afternoon with their first practice.

It’s the first time the Racers have been on the court since they played in last years Women’s NCAA Tournament. That all came after Murray State won their first Missouri Valley Conference Championship.

Heading into this season, which is year number nine for head coach Rechelle Turner, the Racers have those same expectations of winning a championship.

However, they are not changing how they approach the game despite winning a title last year.

” think our mindset now is just not getting complacent,” junior guard Haven Ford said. “It’s so easy just coming off of a championship of all right, we did it, you know, and so now we just have to be ready to just grind even more of trying to do it again.”

The Racers will open the season on November 3rd when they play host to Trevecca.
