Officials provided an update Monday on DNA evidence that links a new suspect to the previously unsolved 1991 killings of four teenage girls at an Austin yogurt shop, saying new technology has led to a “significant breakthrough” in the brutal crime that has haunted Texas’ capital and stumped investigators for decades.
2. Fired Texas State professor reinstated following judge’s injunction
A Texas State University professor, who was fired after making comments at a socialism conference, has been reinstated following a judge’s order.
Thomas Alter was fired earlier this month after speaking at a conference about revolutionary socialism and later sued the university over the firing.
3. Government shutdown draws closer as congressional leaders head to White House
Democratic and Republican congressional leaders are heading to the White House for a meeting with President Donald Trump on Monday in a late effort to avoid a government shutdown, but both sides have shown hardly any willingness to budge from their entrenched positions.

Bad Bunny will bring his Latin trap and reggaeton swagger to the NFL’s biggest stage next year: The Grammy winner will headline the Apple Music Super Bowl halftime show in Northern California.
The NFL, Apple Music and Roc Nation announced Sunday that Bad Bunny will lead the halftime festivities from Levi’s Stadium on Feb. 8 in Santa Clara, California.
