On a recent episode of the White Noise Podcast, Boston Celtics guard Derrick White reflected on his time in San Antonio.
He told a great story about Bryn Forbes attempting to pay for a team dinner (with Pop’s credit card) and how Pau Gasol was not going to allow the youngster to buy for the team. Gasol believed it was his responsibility as one of the elders to pay for the dinner and that it shouldn’t be put on a young player.
Gasol did acquiesce once he learned Forbes had Pop’s card and was buying on his behalf.
White also revealed how influential Manu Ginobili has been on his career.
It’s obvious from his comments that he learned a lot in San Antonio, reveres his time here with fondness, and really soaked up what he could from each player with who he crossed paths.
