HOUSTON – Houston Police are searching for a man who fled the scene of what they believe to potentially be an accidental shooting in southeast Houston.

It happened in the 8400 block of Bonner Drive.

According to Lt. Larry Crowson with the Houston Police Department, several men were under a carport at a home drinking beer. At one point, the group started handling a gun and a man was shot. He died at the scene.

One of the men, believed to be the one handling the firearm when it went off, fled the scene on foot. Police believe they know who he is and are looking for him.

Witnesses tell police they didn’t hear any arguing before the shooting, which leads police to believe it may have been an accident.
